Air Force score three to advance to Championship Match

Air Force dominated play over Army to win match six 3-0 of the 2016 Armed Forces Men’s Soccer Championship held at Fort Benning, Ga. on 11 May.

In the closing minutes of the first half, Air Force scored back-to-back goals from 2nd lt. Taylor Moore (41st min) and 1st Lt. Aaron Zendejas (42nd min), to give the Airmen a comfortable lead. 

In the 70th minute, Senior Airman Jose Guillan fired a rocket into the goal sealing the match for Air Force.

Air Force’s win puts them in the Championship match versus Navy, the winners of match five.  The Championship Match is set for 13 May at Fort Benning.

The 2016 Armed Forces Championship format consists of round robin play, where each team faces one another once for seeding.  The top two best records will face one another in the championship match to claim the 2016 Armed Forces crown.
