Air Forces defeats Marine Corps in opening game of the Armed Forces Men’s Championship

Senior Airman Jahmal Lawson of Aviano Air Base, Italy led Air Force with 21 points to hold off the Marines 66-62 in the first game of the 2016 Armed Forces Men’s Basketball Championship at the Barber Fitness Center at MCB Quantico, Virginia on November 1st.

Marine Corps and Air Force traded leads back-and-forth throughout the game. Marine Montonio Kenan scored 20 points, but Air Force held on to the lead in the final few minutes of the game

Navy faces Air Force and Army faces Marine Corps in day-two action on November 2nd.

The 2016 Armed Forces Championship format consists of double round robin play, where each team faces one another twice for seeding. The top two best records will face one another in the championship match to claim the 2016 Armed Forces crown.
