Schedule of USA Orienteering Training Opportunities

USA Orienteering will host a series of sanctioned events this spring.  The U.S. Armed Forces Sports coordinator for Orienteering will host training camps in conjunction with these events to focus on terrain, navigational techniques and race strategy.

Athletes interested in attending the training camps must fund their own travel and expenses, but may be eligible to go on permissive TDY/TAD by their respective commands.

The events are as followed:

13-16 JAN 17: Georgia Navigator Cup, Pine Mountain, GA 

10-12 FEB 17: Vancouver Sprint Camp, Vancouver, BC,Canada,

3-5 MAR 17: US Interscholastic and IntercollegiateChampionships, 

17-26 MAR 17: Armed Forces orienteering PTDY training campin Los Angeles / San Francisco, CA in conjunction with LAOC’s Camp Scherman(Relay Championships) and BAOC’s O in the Oaks (Ultralong Championships).  Training during the week will take place atVasquez Rocks near LA and Morgan Territory in SF.  Email LTC (Ret) Victoria Campbell at vjhcampbat if interested so we can ensure we have reserved sufficient lodging. 14-17 APR 17: Oceania Championships, Auckland, NZ.

22-29 APR 17: World Masters Orienteering Championships(M/W35 and older), Auckland, NZ.

20-27 APR 17: PTDY training camp in conjunction with USMA national competition, West Point, NY.  

10-16 JUN 17: CISM Orienteering, Hamina, Finland.  TDY for selected athletes.

17-18 JUN 17: Jukola, North Karelia, Finland.

23-25 JUN 17: Gold Rush (Sprint/Middle/Long Championships),Stanley, ID. 

30 JUN – 7 JUL 17: World Orienteering Championships, Tartu,Estonia. 

9-15 JUL 17: Junior World Orienteering Championships,Tampere, Finland. 

22-28 JUL 17: O-Ringen, Varmland, Sweden. 

30 JUL – 5 AUG 17: Scottish 6-Days, Aberdeenshire, GreatBritain. 

Point of contact for these events is LTC Victoria Campbell (Army) at Male and female results will count toward national rankings and will meet application requirements for the U.S. Armed Forces Orienteering Team that will compete at the Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) World Orienteering Military Championship in Finland.
