OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. –
All-Army Men’s team dominate the 2023 Armed Forces Men’s Softball Championship going undefeated and winning the championship game 23-13 over the Marine Corps here at the USA Softball National Hall of Fame Stadium Complex in Oklahoma City, Okla on Wednesday, August 9.
Army Sgt. Robert McLaughlin of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. knocked in eight RBI’s and two homeruns against the Marines, as Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Olvera of Fort Sill, Okla controlled the pitching mound as Army returned to the top of the podium since 2017.
Army collected 20 hits, driving in 23 runs to win the contest.
Marines opened up with a 5-0 lead over Army in the first inning. Army rallied to score nine on six hits in the second and never looked back.
Marine Corps earned silver going 5-4 through the triple round robin, earning a spot to the championship game. Cpl. Preston Mocahbee of Camp Lejeune, N.C. led the Marines with 21 RBI’s as the Marine Corps returned to their winning form earning their first medal since 2018.
Air Force went 4-5, placing third as Navy finished fourth going 0-9.
The 2023 Armed Forces Championship was hosted by USA Softball at their National Hall of Fame Stadium Complex. As the National Governing Body for the sport in the United States, the Armed Forces Sports program is a proud affiliated member and brings in the top elite-level umpires from around the country.

The U.S. Armed Forces Men’s Softball Team will compete at the USA Softball National B-Level Championship back here at the USA Softball Complex from September 1-2.
