Navy Sweeps Men's and Women's Triathlon Championship
NAVAL BASE VENTURA COUNTY - POINT MUGU, Calif. (June 9, 2018) U.S. Navy Lt. Kyle Hooker of Bremerton, Wash. finishes in first place for the fourth year in a row at the 2018 Armed Forces Triathlon Championship. During the triathlon, service members competed both individually and as a team to Olympic distances of a 1,500-meter (approximately 1-mile) open-water swim, followed by a 40-kilometer (24.8-mile) bike ride, and finishing with a 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) run.  Additionally, teams competed for points and spots on the U.S. Armed Forces Team that will compete at the Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) World Military Triathlon Championship in Lidkoping, Sweden from 15-18 June 2018. June 18, 2018 - Navy Lt. Kyle Hooker of the USS Nimitz wins the 2018 Armed Forces Triathlon Championship men’s title for the fourth straight year and Marine Capt. Mollie Hebda of Camp Pendleton, Calif. takes home her second straight women’s gold at Point Mugu, California, June 9.

June 1, 2018 - Naval Base Ventura County will host the 2018 Armed Forces Triathlon Championship here June 6-10. This event will feature men and women teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force along with athletes from the Coast Guard competing on the Navy team.
