Airman runs MCM, honors fallen during Boston marathon

Nov. 11, 2024 - More than 23,000 athletes ran the 49th Marine Corps Marathon, whose theme was “Celebrating Women in Service – A Bond that Bridges Generations.”  For one Air Force intelligence officer, the theme gave her a little extra drive during the race and her competition in the Armed Forces Championship.

Nov. 5, 2024 - As an elite pack of runners, an Airman, Soldier and Marine, ran toward the Capitol, while keeping pace, sharing gels and water, enjoying beautiful 50-degree weather, and secretly deciding who was going to breakaway to win bragging rights to win the Armed Forces Championship and 49th Marine Corps Marathon.

Nov. 2, 2024 - As the Olympic trials hopeful Soldier passed the capitol, he steadied his pace, working with a Marine and Airman, sharing water and gels, as they traversed small hills, enjoyed beautiful 50-degree, sunny weather and focused on the who was going to win bragging rights, winning the 49th Marine Corps Marathon and the Armed Forces Championship.

Nov. 1, 2024 - As he approached the mile 20 marker with grit and intensity in a pack, he decided to make a move. He kicked in his reserves, picked up a brutal pace and won the 49th Marine Corps Marathon and took gold in the Armed Forces Championship Men’s Division with a time of 2:25:06.

Oct. 28, 2024 - Ospreys flew overhead as the cannon woke the masses to start the 49th Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday, October 27. Featured up front were the elite field of runners that made up the Armed Forces Championship.

Oct. 27, 2024 - With a time of two hours, 25 minutes and six seconds, active-duty Marine Maj. Kyle King, won the 49th Marine Corps Marathon today.

Oct. 26, 2024 - As “The People’s Marathon” kicks off its 49th year Sunday, more than 22,000 runners ages 14 to 85 from all U.S. states and more than 60 countries will push themselves 26.2 miles to earn their medals.

Oct. 25, 2024 - While more than 20,000 runners from around the world will be earning their Eagle, Globe and Anchor medals at the 49th Marine Corps Marathon this Sunday, military elite runners representing the service branches will compete in the Armed Forces Championship.

Oct. 29, 2023 - Under clouds and humidity, the 48th edition of the Marine Corps Marathon celebrated the 25th Anniversary of hosted the Armed Forces Marathon Championship in Washington, D.C. Sunday, October 29.

Oct. 30, 2022 - Perfect weather combined with energetic runners was the ideal conditions for the elite runners of the 47th edition of the Marine Corps Marathon held in Washington, D.C. Marine Corps Captain Kyle King of MAGTFTC Twentynine Palms, California dominated the course from the start winning the 2022 Marine Corps Marathon and Armed Forces Marathon title with a blistering time of 2:19:19.   Navy  Lt. Cmdr. Katherine Irgens of Naval Submarine Base New London, Conn. captured her first Armed Forces Gold with an impressive time of 2:50:24, placing fourth overall in the Marine Corps Marathon Women’s Division.

Navy men, Air Force women earn gold in Armed Forces marathon competition

Oct. 29, 2018 - Navy lieutenant Patrick Hearn and Army first lieutenant Lindsay Gabow finished today’s 43rd running of the Marine Corps Marathon as the top male and female Armed Forces team runners, respectively.

Army Capt. Megan Curran with a time of 2:50:24 wins the 2017 Armed Forces Women's Marathon Championship held in conjunction wtih the 42nd Marine Corps Marathon on 22 October in Washington, D.C.  Curran placed 2nd overall in the Women's Division of the Marine Corps Marathon.  Curran won the Women's Division in 2014 and placed 2nd overall in 2016.
Oct. 23, 2017 - Army Capt. Megan Curran returned to podium to capture her third Armed Forces Women’s gold in four years with a time of 2:50:24, leading Army women to their second straight team gold medal during the 2017 Armed Forces Marathon Championship held in conjunction with the 42nd Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. on October 22.

Nov. 2, 2016 - Army Spec. Samuel Kosgei (Fort Riley, Kansas) crossed the finish line with a time of 2:23:53 to win his second Marine Corps Marathon and Armed Forces gold.

Nov. 2, 2015 - Running in his first marathon, Army 2nd lt. Trevor Lafontaine of West Point, N.Y. crossed the finish line with a time of 2:24:25 to win the Marine Corps Marathon Men’s Division and take Armed Forces gold.

Oct. 26, 2014 - Army Spec. Laban Sialo (JB San Antonio, TX) finished second overall with a time of 2:23:48 and Navy PO2 Justin Turner (Fleet Readiness Center SW, CA) completed the podium sweep to place third overall in the Marine Corps Marathon with a time of 2:25:05. All three top Marine Corps Marathon finishers were the top three men for the Armed Forces competition. Running in her first marathon, Army Capt. Meghan Curran (Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ) won the Marine Corps Marathon’s Women’s Crown with a time of 2:51:47.

Oct. 14, 2014 - The US Women returned to the podium at the CISM World Military Marathon Championship taking silver in the women’s division of the 46th Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) Marathon World Military Championship 9-14 October 2014 in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Dec. 9, 2013 - The U.S. Armed Forces Marathon team fought through the heat and humidity for a strong showing at the 2013 Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) World Marathon Military Championship on 23 November in Paramaribo, Suriname.
