Military World Games opens with dazzling spectacle

Oct. 18, 2019 - U.S. service members watched colorful pageantry Friday evening during the opening ceremony for the 7th CISM Military World Games.

JAMEL HERRING PUNCHES HIS TICKET FOR THE 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES IN LONDON

May 1, 2012 - (COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO) –Team USA added a fifth member to their Olympic boxing team on Tuesday evening as light welterweight Jamel Herring (Coram, N.Y.) qualified his spot in London. Herring won his third bout in four days to qualify the light welterweight division for the United States squad.

MARINES OUST ARMY, TAKE GOLD IN 2012 ARMED FORCES BOXING CHAMPIONSHIP

Feb. 3, 2012 - In the final bout of the night, Marine Sgt. DeJesus Gardner taking gold against Army Sgt. Marvin Carey became the crux between Marine Corps victory and a tie with Army. Marine Sgt. DeJesus Gardner holds up his goldmedal and the team award gold medal. Gardner’s left eye swelled closed early in the fight, but the audience went wild when the ringside doctor allowed the fight to continue.

ARMED FORCES BOXERS WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Fort Carson, CO - Boxers from across the U.S. Armed Forces competed at the 2012 USA Boxing National Championship held at Fort Carson, CO 26 February to 3 March. The 2012 Nationals were also used as a qualifier for boxers within select weight classes to earn the right to qualify their weight class for the 2012 Olympic Games, while the other weight classes were non-advancing.
