SAN DIEGO, Calif. –
Along the shore of San Diego’s historic inner bay, the All-Navy Triathlon runners look to defend their team title today at the 2025 Armed Forces Triathlon Championship.
Returners for the All-Navy Triathlon Team include 2024 men’s champion, Cmdr. Kyle Hooker, a veteran competitor who won his seventh Armed Forces Triathlon title last year. Other returners for Navy include Ensign Hannah Walz, the 2024 women’s champion, and Petty Officer 2nd Class Kyle Warrick, the men’s runner up in 2024.
Competitors will start by swimming in San Diego Bay and then transition to the bike race in the city’s Liberty Station District. From there, they will follow a course that winds southwest through Point Loma, San Diego’s scenic peninsula.
After the runners return to Liberty Station, they will conclude the race with a running course that loops along the inner San Diego Bay.
The All Air Force Triathlon team, which finished second in both the men and women’s team divisions, will be led by coach, Maj. Nicole Muzzy.
Maj. Esther Willlet, the 2024 women’s master’s division champion, will bolster an Air Force team that hopes to challenge Navy for the team title.
The All-Army Team features returnees including Lt. Col. Christyn Gaa, and Maj. Nick Sterghos who also serves as the team coach.
Army features talented newcomers including West Point graduates, 1st Lt. Waverly Schnetzler, 2nd Lt. Clayton Bernauer and 1st Sgt. James Paska.
Col. Christine Houser, the 2023 women’s master’s champion and Col. Joseph Galvin (competitor and coach) will lead the All-Marine Corps Triathlon Team.
