Navy men held off Army, 64-57, on Tuesday in day five of double round-robin competition at the Armed Forces Basketball Championship.

Lt. j.g. Jack Brunswick, stationed at U.S. Coast Guard Sector Houston, scored 16 points to lead Navy.

Sgt. Akeem Echols, stationed at Fort Cavazos, Texas, led Army in scoring with 13 points.

Navy Coach Micah Bonner said, “great game, but we weren’t very smart toward the end of the game. We didn’t take care of the ball the way we wanted to, but you know what? You can’t beat up your team when they give the type of effort on the defensive end to hold the Army to that amount of points.”

In the first women’s game of the day, Army defeated Navy 69-55.

Army coach Cutosha Dilworth said, “They’re all working hard. The goal of this game was to start off with our offense from the beginning. I’ve been getting everybody off the bench in the last two games, letting them play.”

1st Lt. Tatiana Wayne scored 15 points to lead Army, and Lt. j.g. Ariana Henderson scored 15 points to lead Navy.

In the second men’s game, Air Force defeated Marine Corps, 81-78.

Airman 1st Class Austin Parker scored 24 points to lead Air Force, while 1st Lt.  John Carter scored 27 points to lead the Corps.

In the night’s final game, 1st Lt Kaelin Immel scored 15 points to lead the Air Force women past the Marine Corps, 65-39.

Capt. Briana Allen led the Corps with 15 points.
