By USA Softball U.S. Armed Forces Sports

Another marquee softball competition has been added to the 2023 USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex event schedule as the Armed Forces Men’s and Women’s National Championship is set to make its debut at the Softball Capital of the World® this summer. Slated to take place August 6-9, top-level athletes from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps will form teams in their respective branches with the coveted National Championship title on the line. The 2023 event marks USA Softball’s second time to host the prestigious Armed Forces National Championships following the 2014 event held at Edmond Route 66 & Sports.

“We are honored to welcome the 2023 Armed Forces National Championship to the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex,” said USA Softball Chief Executive Office, Craig Cress. “We’ve had the privilege of assisting with this tournament in the past but being able to provide the hospitality and experience of the Softball Capital of the World® to our military members and their families has been a bucket list item for many years. USA Softball takes tremendous pride in our relationship with the Armed Forces and look forward to a great event this summer.”

The competition will kick off on Sunday, August 6, with games being played through Monday, Tuesday 8, before narrowing the playing field to the Men’s and Women’s consolation and championship games on Wednesday, August 9. A full schedule with game times and opponents will be announced at a later date.

An affiliated member of USA Softball, the Armed Forces offers over 20 sports for active military members with softball competitions dating back to 1972. Looking to defend its 2022 title will be the Men’s Air Force team, while the Women’s Navy team last hoisted the trophy in 2021. Overall, the Men’s Air Force leads with 25 National Championship titles followed by the Army with 14, Marine Corps with six and Navy with four. Atop the Women’s leaderboard is the Women’s Army team with 22 titles, the Air Force with 18 and the Navy with three.

To be eligible to compete in the Armed Forces Championship, military personnel must maintain active duty, reserve or national guard status with participants being selected from United States military installations from across the world.
