Naval Base San Diego To Host 2022 Armed Forces Basketball Championship

By Mr. Steven Dinote, U.S. Armed Forces Sports U.S. Armed Forces Sports

Naval Base San Diego, California will host the 2022 Armed Forces Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships featuring teams from Army, Marine Corps, Navy (including Coast Guard) and Air Force (including Space Force), held at the Admiral Prout Fieldhouse from 5-13 November 2022.

This marks the first Armed Forces Basketball Championship since COVID-19 cancelled the 2020 and 2021 tournaments.

Army Women and Navy Men are the defending champs of the 2019 Armed Forces Championship held at Naval Station Mayport, Florida.

In 2019, Army Women reclaimed their championship form defeating Navy 71-62 in the championship game.

On the men’s side, Navy ended Army’s streak and hopes of a three-peat with a stunning 75-73 victory over Army in the championship game.

Each team will compete in a double round-robin for rankings, followed by a championship game for the top two teams, with the bottom two teams competing in a consolation game on November 12.
