Rennes, France –
The United States Armed Forces Women’s Soccer team competed
in their first match against Germany, losing 2-0 on the first day of
competition of the 2016 Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) World
Women’s Military Football Cup in Rennes, France.
Germany scored their first goal on a corner kick
rebound. Two minutes before the end of
the first half, Germany scored on a breakaway.
USA held off the Germans during the second half of the
match, for the final tally 2-0.
In other action, host nation France crushed Netherlands
6-1. Defending champions Brazil topped
South Korea 1-0 and Cameroon beat Canada 2-0 to wrap up the first day of
competition.
USA will face South Korea on Saturday, 28 May at Commandant
Bourguin, Stadium in Rennes as action continues.
Pool play matches will continue through Tuesday, 31 May
before semi-final action begins.
