US Women Break CISM World Record on their way to Formation Skydiving Gold

(Solo, Indonesia) – The US Armed Forces Women’s Parachuting Team broke the CISM World Record in Formation Skydiving, dominating the competition on their way to gold. 

The US Armed Forces Parachuting Team competed at the 38th Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) in Solo, Indonesia 17-28 September.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Jennifer Davidson (Fort Bragg, NC), Sgt. 1st Class Laura Dickmeyer (Fort Bragg, NC), Sgt. 1st Class Angela Nichols  (Fort Bragg, NC)and Sgt. 1st Class Dannielle Woosley (Fort Bragg, NC) leapt from their aircraft and immediately started scoring points performing numerous formation maneuvers. 

During the third round, Team USA broke the CISM World Record previously held by France (30 points), by scoring 31 points. In the fourth round, the US Women broke their own record by scoring 32 points.

The US finished the competition with a total of 226 points and the gold medal. France finish second with 173 points, followed by China with 158 points.

The US Women finished 7th in the Team Accuracy competition, 5th in the Style Competition and 5th Overall in the team category out of 11 nations. Russia, China and France finished first, second and third respectively in the overall standings.

On the US Men’s Team, Army Sgt. Dan Osorio (Fort Bragg, NC) took the bronze medal in the Junior Men’s Individual Accuracy competition.

The US Men placed 9th in Style, 13th in Formation Skydiving and25th in Team Accuracy; placing 20th overall out of 31 nations. Germany, Czech Rep. and Russia placed first, second and third respectively. 

The US Armed Forces Parachuting Team features the best competitors from the The United States Army Parachute Team, based out of Fort Bragg, NC.

The United States Army Parachute Team, nicknamed “The Golden Knights,” is the U.S. Army’s official aerial demonstration team. The Team travels around the United States, performing parachute demonstrations at air shows, major league football and baseball games, and special events, connecting the Army with the American people.
