Air Force holds on to lead heading into day three of Armed Forces Championship

Tech. Sgt. Derek Lambertson of Hurlburt Field, Fla. knocked in five runs to lift Air Force over Marine Corps in their final game of the day two of the 2022 Armed Forces Men’s Softball Championship. The victory over the Marines helped Air Force maintain their lead after the second round of the triple round robin played here at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. 

In day one, Air Force went undefeated beating out Army, Marines, and Navy.  Army’s only loss was to Air Force as Navy sank the Marines in their only win of the day.

Army opened up day-two of the competition squeezing by a victory over Air Force 12-11. Army later fell to the Marines 14-10, the Marines’ only victory in the tournament.

After the second round, Air Force holds a 5-1 lead over the competition, with Army trailing 4-2 in the win/loss column.  Navy is still in the hunt with two losses, as Marine Corps is looking to play spoiler in the final round.

The top two teams will face each other the in Championship game.  One more victory for Air Force will guarantee them into the final contest.
