Fort Bragg to host the 2018 Armed Forces Men's Soccer Championship

Fort Bragg will host the 2018 Armed Forces Men’s Soccer Championship here June 2-10. This event will feature teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force along with athletes from the Coast Guard competing on the Navy team.

Air Force is currently the defending champions, having beat the Navy 3-2 during the championship match of the 2016 Armed Forces Championship held at Fort Benning, GA.  Marine Corps defeated Army in the consolation match to earn third place honors.

The Armed Forces Men’s Soccer Championship is conducted every two years.  During the years in between the Armed Forces Championship, there is an Armed Forces Men’s Soccer Trial Camp that selects the U.S. Men’s Armed Forces Team to compete at the Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) World Military Football Cup or the CISM Military World Games.  

Media are invited to attend the opening ceremony at Hedrick Stadium on the corner of Reilly and Longstreet roads at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 3; and the awards ceremony at the same location on June 9 at approximately 7:30 p.m. Media are also invited to attend the following matches Hedrick Stadium starting on June 3 at 6 p.m.; continuing on June 5 and June 7. The consolation match will occur at 9:00 a.m. and the championship match at 5:00 p.m., both on June 9. (**See media instructions in notes below.)

Media will have the opportunity for photos, video B-roll, and interviews with soccer players at each of the events and during practices scheduled during June 4, 6 and 8. (**See media instructions in notes below.)

**NOTES: Media interested in covering the event should RSVP with the Fort Bragg Public Affairs Office no later than 4 p.m. on the day prior to the event they wish to attend
