The Air Force Men’s and Women’s Teams won the 2009 Armed Forces Cross Country Championship, conducted in conjunction with USA Track & Field’s Winter Classic at the Agricultural History Farm Park, Derwood, Maryland, on 7 February.  The Air Force won the Armed Forces Women’s 8-Kilometer Cross Country Championship.  Second Lieutenant Caroline White (AFIT, ROTC at the University of Maryland) won the Armed Forces individual with a time of 30:14 (27th in the nation).  The Navy’s Aidan Van Cleef finished second (30:29), while Airman First Class Angela Martell (Peterson AFB) was third with a time of 31:04.  The Air Force totaled eight points with a first place individual finish, a third place and Major Brenda Schrank’s (Andrews AFB) fourth place finish (31:21).  The team championship was determined by adding the placement finishes of the team’s top three runners.  The Navy finished second (16 points), the Army finished third (25 points), and the Marine Corps finished fourth (41 points).
