OVERALL FINISH OF US TEAM

•  Women's team placed 5 th overall behind China with 4 golds, 1 silver, 1 bronze; Russia with 1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze; Germany with 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze; and Lesotho with 1 gold

•  Men's team placed 8th overall. Russia was the overall Champion with 4 golds and 1 silver followed by Netherlands , Cyprus , Germany , Saudi Arabia , China , and Libya .

NOTEWORTHY ACHIEVEMENTS:

•  SSG Yelena Pisarenko, Army, took silver medal in Women's Light Division

•  SGT Petra Kaui, Army took silver medal in Women's Heavy Division

•  SGT David Bartlett, Army, took silver medal in Men's Light Division

•  SGT Louis Torres, Army, took bronze medal in Men's Middle Division

OVERALL PERFORMANCE SYNOPSIS :

The US Armed Forces Taekwondo team had a decent showing in capturing 3 silver medals and one bronze. Most team members have been on the team for the last 3-4 years. Expectations for medaling were higher for some team members than was actually realized. of Mission , lending their insight and expertise to tournament issues and athlete performance evaluations.
