Second Lieutenant Robert L. Dickie III

OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPH The 1999 Air Force Male Athlete of the Year, Second Lieutenant Robert L. Dickie III, competes in Cross Country and Track and Field events. He took First Place in the 5,000 Meter Run at the 1999 Armed Forces Cross Country Championships. Second Lieutenant Dickie placed second on USA Team in the 5,000 Meter event at the CISM Cross Country Championships. He took Second Place in the 3,000 Meter Steeple Chase at the Armed Forces Track and Field Championships. At the Aircent International Track and Field Championships he won First Place in the 3,000 Meter Steeple Chase, setting an Aircent Steeple Chase record.
He also took Fourth Place in the 1,500 Meter Run. In addition to completing in many regional cross country and track and field competitions, Second Lieutenant Dickie participates in base-wide running events and encourages others to better fitness by leading the Transportation Squadron fitness run two days a week. He served as a volunteer coach to the University of Arkansas Little Rock Cross-Country and Track Team. Second Lieutenant Dickie was selected as Company Grade Officer of the Quarter for all of Little Rock Air Force Base for the first quarter of 1999. As flight commander, he led the 314th Transportation Squadron, Vehicle Operations Flight to win the prestigious recognition as the best in Air Education and Training Command. Dickie Running
Under Second Lieutenant Dickie's command they then went on to win the Best Vehicle Operations Flight in the entire Air Force.
