Camp Pendleton to host 2014 Armed Forces Basketball Championship

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. — Camp Pendleton will host the 2014 Armed Forces Basketball Championship at the Paige Fieldhouse, here, Nov. 6 - 14.  

The All Marine, Navy, Army and Air Force teams, comprised of service members, from bases across the globe will be participating in the competition.  

An opening ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Paige Fieldhouse at noon, Nov. 7.  

This championship showcases elite basketball players from each participating service and participants are selected at a highly competitive training program conducted by each of their respective services.  

At the conclusion of this event the Armed Forces Committee will be selecting representatives from each service to represent the United States in the SHAPE International Basketball Tournament in Belguim, held Dec. 1 to Dec. 6.   In addition, the US Armed Forces Team will also compete at the 6th Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) World Games in South Korea 2-11 October 2015
