Air Force Men and Women go undefeated in round one of Armed Forces Volleyball Championship

Looking for their fourth and third straight titles respectively, the Air Force Men and Women’s Volleyball team went undefeated during the opening round of the 2019 Armed Forces Volleyball Championship at Fort Bragg’s Ritz Epps Physical Fitness Center in North Carolina.  

Starting off the tournament, the Air Force Men dominated Army winning in three straight sets (25-11, 25-19, 25-14).  Air Force Senior Airman Trey White of Yokota, Japan tallied 15 kills as Air Force registered 14 team blocks in their victory. 

Air Force Women pounced host Army winning three straight sets (25-12, 25-16, 25-20).  Air Force 1st Lt. Felicia Clement scored 17 of the team’s 43 kills in their victory.  

During the second group of matches, Navy Men and Women each registered victories over Army, with the Men winning 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-21, 25-16) and the Women controlling the match 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-15). 

In the final group of the day, Air Force Men defeated Navy 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-20) behind White’s 16 kills.  

Air Force Women finished up the day outlasting Navy’s late surge winning 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 26-24).  

The 2019 Armed Forces Volleyball championship features Service members from the Army, Navy (with Coast Guardsmen) and Air Force. 

This national-level championship serves as the selection tournament of the U.S. Armed Forces Volleyball teams to compete in the 7th Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) Military World Games in Wuhan, China in October 2019.  

The Armed Forces Volleyball Championship is conducted in a triple round robin format from 6 to 8 March, hosted by Fort Bragg Morale, Welfare and Recreation.
